Dirge was a member of the Cybertronian High Guard. Upon bearing witness to Sentinel Prime's betrayal of the Primes, he and the rest of the High Guard resolved to hide away from the rest of Cybertronian society and delegate resources towards sabotaging Sentinel's rule.
Dirge was among those assigned to guard a quartet of trespassers that they had recently captured and stood in attendance as Starscream interrogated them. He bore witness to a duel between D-16 and Starscream, in which D-16 was victorious. Shortly afterwards, a swarm of Death Trackers led by Airachnid descended upon them.
