Quintessa known as "The Great Deceiver," is a mysterious and powerful space sorceress and one of the two main antagonists (alongside Megatron) of Transformers: The Last Knight. As the self-described "The Prime of Life", she created the Cybertronian Race, Optimus Prime, and the Infernocons and considers Cybertron to be hers to command.
History[]
Transformers: The Last Knight[]
A Millennia ago, Quintessa set out to destroy Cybertron's ancient enemy, the notorious planet-eating giant Unicron. However, her guard of twelve knights, known as the Knights of Iacon, learned that she was not what she appeared to be and that she intended to drain Earth's energy to restore Cybertron with a machine utilized by a powerful staff, which would out all life on the planet, as Quintessa believed that Earth would be the location of Unicron's dormant body. In the face of this, they rebelled against her and stole the Staff of Power from her before escaping and keeoing it hiding on Earth, and branded her "The Great Deceiver" for her delusional beliefs, much to Quintessa's fury.
Quintessa remained hidden for the following millennia, until Cybertron was devastated and collapsed in on itself following the Battle of Chicago. Eventually, Cybertron began to move towards Earth, being hidden by the Sun, while she repaired it using her powers and created the Infernocons to assist her in the reconstruction process.
Depending on whether or not Quintessa's affirmation that she is the creator of the Cybertronian species is true, she would have contracted Lockdown to hunt down, capture and retrieve her Knights and Optimus Prime to her, so that she could hypnotize them into helping her rebuild Cybertron and destroy Earth. At some point after Lockdown's demise, Quintessa met with Galvatron and rebuilt him as Megatron, with a new body resembling a Dark Knight, and put him under her thrall.
Optimus Prime went into space to search for his makers, and after entering stasis lock and left adrift in space, came across the traveling Cybertron. There, he found Quintessa. She declared herself the "Prime of Life", and the god of the Transformers. As Optimus attempted to attack her, she quickly disarmed and detained him. After having Infernocus immobilize Optimus and using her magic to put the Prime into a state of trance, she explained her history with the Knights and reprogrammed Optimus to serve her as Nemesis Prime. She explained him that Earth was, in fact, Unicron, before sending him on a mission to retrieve her Staff.
Quintessa transported Cybertron to Earth and met with Megatron and his Decepticons. Though Nemesis Prime had broken free from her control and reverted back to Optimus, Megatron managed to retrieve the Staff from him, and delivered it to Quintessa. She then used it to channel her powers, draining Unicron's life force and Earth's geothermal energy, and using it to heal Cybertron.
The Autobots, along with the military and the knights hasted to stop Quintessa's, plan. Optimus, Hound, Hot Rod, Crosshairs, Drift and Bumblebee all made their way into Quintessa's chamber along with Cade Yeager and Viviane Wembly, the latter of which being the only human capable of wielding Quintessa's Staff and its magic. Megatron failing to stop them, Optimus confronted Quintessa, and though the sorceress managed to immobilize him, Bumblebee attacked her from the back, shooting her, seemingly, to her death. After that, Viviane removed the Staff, stopping Cybertron's healing before it destroyed Earth, but not before the planet was made inhabitable again, prompting the Autobots to return home.
Unbeknownst to all, Quintessa survived and remained alive on Earth, using holographic cloaking to disguise herself as a human female. She approached the archaeological research site around one of Unicron's horns, and made contact with one of the workers. She advised him not to touch the horn, for "he wouldn't like it". When the worker expressed confusion on who she was talking about, she explained it was Unicron, and that she could show him how to kill the being.
